Movie Haiku:Well-crafted adaptation of ‘50’s novel strains at the seams. Despite the talent of the acting ensemble and the expert attention to every detail (art design, costumes, music), the movie holds the viewer on the outside of its elegantly polished surfaces. The characters always seem “written,” and never quite real.
