Introduction

We're your hosts, Jan and Rich. We are a hard-working "baby-boomer" couple, with great educations, and all the usual work and family obligations. When we have "free time" together, we often spend it watching movies (in theaters, on video, or on cable).

Our purpose with films42.com is to help you make your own choices about what to watch together. We will tell you what we’ve already seen and found worthwhile. The films we recommend are not necessarily romantic, although some of them are. The films we recommend are not necessarily action-packed, although some of them are. We recommend films for adults, films that we believe both men and women will find worthy of their time and attention.

Since the films we recommend on this website are, by definition, films for TWO, you’ll have to look elsewhere for discussions of pure “chick flicks” (e.g., HANGING UP, MIRROR HAS TWO FACES, & ROMY AND MICHELE’S HIGH SCHOOL REUNION) and pure “macho treats” (e.g., 8 MM, CON AIR, & FACE/OFF). These films, at best, appeal to only one of us. We generally do see these films – alone, with other friends, or even together when one of us is in that kind of mood – be we won’t be discussing them in the FILMS FOR TWO database.
