4 out of 5

3.5 out of 5

Key Performances:

  Michael Boatman
  Loretta Devine
  Kimberly Elise
  T.D. Jakes
  Clifton Powell
Movie Haiku:Elise is absolutely riveting in this morality play based on the life ministry of T.D. Jakes. Jakes plays "himself" as a charismatic Black preacher reaching out to someone traumatized by early sexual abuse. Devine’s also outstanding in the difficult role of the mother who chooses her man over her daughter.
