3.5 out of 5

Key Performances:

  Ivan Dixon
  Wallace Ford
  Elizabeth Hartman
  Sidney Poitier
  Shelley Winters
Movie Haiku:Poitier’s a man determined to rescue a blind girl from her abusive mother in this 60s liberal classic. Winters won her second Oscar as Mom & Hartman (in her debut performance as Selina) was nominated. Poitier, a bit too saintly here, had received his own ground-breaking Oscar 2 years before.
