ELIZABETH: THE GOLDEN AGE

Director:

  Shekhar Kapur

Year Released:

  2007

Jan's Rating:

Rich's Rating:

4 out of 5

4 out of 5

Key Performances:

  Cate Blanchett
  Abbie Cornish
  Samantha Morton
  Clive Owen
  Geoffrey Rush
Movie Haiku:Wasted for years, Owen’s fabulous as Sir Walter Raleigh, seducing luminous Elizabeth Rex (Blanchett) as well as her Lady-in-Waiting (Cornish). Morton’s equally superlative as doomed Mary Stewart. Putting his faith in “old-fashioned” narrative (except for too much CG in Spanish Armada scenes), Kapur’s film could come from Hollywood’s own “Golden Age.”
