Movie Haiku:Hanks co-wrote, directs & stars here as a solid citizen whose world falls apart in the depth of the Great Recession. Almost everyone in the large, talented cast is wasted, especially Roberts as a Shakespeare scholar teaching speech at a community college. Despite the supposedly "happy ending," this bittersweet RomCom reeks of diminished expectations. Alas, screenwriter Nia Vardalos has lost the light touch that made MY BIG FAT GREEK WEDDING so charming.
