Movie Haiku:Abandoned at an orphanage in British Palestine at the end of 1944, teenage "Maya" witnesses Yishuvniks celebrating the end of WWII & returning to the business of building the new state of Israel. Lazarov is brilliant as "Markovsky," an idealist charged with sheltering women & girls otherwise forgotten. Screenplay greatly improves Rachel Eytan's ethereal novel.
