| Movie Haiku: | SPLIT DECISION: Rich was moved by this adaptation of an antebellum memoir by Solomon Northrup in which he is tricked into slavery, enduring inhuman horrors until his release. Jan had trouble connecting, finding the drama cold and overly aesthetic. Ejiofor is excellent as Northrup but none of the other actors (Black or White) are allowed to expand beyond stereotypes. |
