Movie Haiku:Jiro Horikoshi was the man who designed Japanese fighter planes like the ones that attacked Pearl Harbor on 12/7/41. Why anyone would want to make a dreamy animated film about his life--with flat cartoon faces instead of actors--is beyond us. So while this film contains some wonderful images of early 20th century Japan (including earthquakes & firestorms) it is a total failure as drama. Oy!
