Movie Haiku:Local beauty (Tomei) marries the violent son of a small town’s most prominent family, & innocent people are drawn into the maelstrom. Spacek & Wilkinson are parents left to cope with the resulting tragedy, which destroys their faith & corrodes their relationship. Subtle, demanding character studies well-told & brilliantly acted.
