Movie Haiku:Oscar-winner Thompson owns this film. She’s an intelligent, educated woman in Edwardian England torn between her bohemian sister (Carter) & her new husband (Hopkins) a conservative upper-crust businessman. Personal Best for the whole Merchant Ivory team, especially Jhabvala (who also won an Oscar for her fine adaptation of Forster’s novel).
