Movie Haiku:Schmidt (Nicholson) is an accomplished Midwestern businessman suddenly facing the twin traumas of retirement & widowhood. Rather than confront his own mortality, he retreats into self-pity & withering observations of all the "fools" in his path (his daughter, her fiancé, etc). Could have been insightful but degenerates instead into Nichol-shtick.
