Movie Haiku:Stark, ugly portrait of a woman exemplifying Lacan’s concept of “perverse” behavior. Intellectually ambitious, but extremely difficult to watch. A cultured woman (Huppert) debases herself in private, then begs for public humiliation. Jan had the queasy feeling the director was vicariously speaking thru his “hero” (Magimel). Rich has his doubts.
