Key Performances:

  Tom Cruise
  Tony Goldwyn
  Koyuki
  Timothy Spall
  Ken Watanabe
Movie Haiku:Like Costner in DANCES WITH WOLVES, Cruise plays a Civil War hero ashamed of his past seeking redemption in a pre-modern warrior culture. Watanabe, the eponymous hero, is as charismatic here as Graham Greene was in WOLVES. Villains are from central casting, otherwise a thoroughly satisfying experience. Warning: extremely violent.
