Movie Haiku:Army nurse (Oscar-winner Binoche) cares for dying stranger (Fiennes) in the waning days of WWII. She falls for a demolitions expert while he reminisces about his one great love. Epic romance in the grand tradition. But only Binoche/Andews really hooked Jan, whereas Rich found the Fiennes/Thomas affair equally engrossing.
